Report on our first thrifting meet-up on July 4th 2026 at the

Salvation Army Thrift Store at 5900 K Avenue, Plano, Texas 75074

I invited a few of my friends to join me for a meet-up at one of my favorite Thrift Shops in the Plano Area. They have a half-price sale on virtually everything in the store every Saturday so you see why it is my go-to place for bargains!  Anyway we were to gather in front of the Shop at 9 am to see what we could find and for me to share my love of shopping and in particular thrift shopping.  I suggested that they come with a plan for what they wanted to find, but open to the great surprises/treasures/bargains that can be found if you are smart enough to spend time combing the racks seeking out the gems that are available…I am reminded of the sage old adage, ‘One Man’s Trash is another Man’s Treasure’ Substitute Woman for Man and there you have it!

 

Kelly, Kristi and Sophia and I each went our own way in our search and had a fun time and each of us found some things to purchase and shared a fitting room when needed. The store was really busy that day and it seemed that everyone was enjoying themselves out of the Sun and heat outside. 

 

We spent about two hours there between shopping and then waiting on the line to check out with our new treasures. Ironically, several other people were asking me what I thought  of what they were trying on. And when standing in line to pay for my purchases, I met another woman who was there with her mother who is just a little younger than I am and I signed her up for notices of any future meet-up as time goes on. She scored a fabulous Michael Kor’s yellow leather bag for just $20.00 and had decided not to purchase another bag by Versace Parfums for just $15.00 which I immediately said I would buy if she really had decided against buying it herself! It is now sitting on the desk in my office now, waiting for me to fill it up with all my necessities for shopping and marketing…lol.   A smaller size than my usual totes and lighter weight, but still able to hold everything I need.

 

I’m thinking about spending Saturday mornings at The Salvation Army Thrift Store for several weeks from 9am to 11am just to see if there are people who might like to meet me there and share my love of shopping and the joy of finding something special to add to our closets. I’m not sure how to spread the word, so any suggestions would be welcome…love ya,,,AuntieM
